Unsere Zwillinge wollten mit der Bahn alleine zur Oma in die Sommerferien verreisen. Zwar traue ich den beiden schon eine Menge zu, aber bei der momentan gegebenen Unzuverl\u00e4ssigkeit der Bahn wollte ich sicherstellen, dass sie sich mit Ihrer Oma bei Versp\u00e4tung, Umleitung, Ausfall oder Verfahren des Zuges in Verbindung setzen k\u00f6nnen. Das iPhone samt Akku war immer noch in einem super Zustand, aber beim Installieren der Software musste ich feststellen, dass die Hardware nur noch mit IOS 10 kompatibel war \u2013 eine modernere Version lie\u00df sich nicht installieren. Das wiederum hatte zur Folge, dass viele Apps zum Zeitvertreib der Zwillinge auf der Fahrt sich nicht installieren lie\u00dfen, da sie iOS 11 oder eine h\u00f6here Version ben\u00f6tigten. Somit konnte man zwar telefonieren, aber weder im Internet surfen noch irgendein Spiel spielen. Das war zwar f\u00fcr mich und Oma OK, aus Sicht der Zwillinge aber v\u00f6llig unzumutbar \u2013 ein Handy nur zum Telefonieren, absolut nutzlos!<\/p>\n<p>In diesem Fall k\u00f6nnte ich nat\u00fcrlich einfach ein neueres und aktuelleres iPhone besorgen, Aber wie sieht es aus, wenn es nicht um Lifestyle-Ger\u00e4te geht, die kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt werden? Wenn es nicht um Ger\u00e4te geht, f\u00fcr die es viele Alternativen gibt? Sondern um sehr spezifische medizinische Ger\u00e4te?<\/p>\n<p>Dar\u00fcber berichtet aktuell online Michael Straight, ein ehemaliger Jockey und seit 10 Jahren Nutzer eines ReWalk-Exoskeletts. Ihm wurde das Problem der Obsoleszenz sehr bewusst vor Augen gef\u00fchrt, als ihn ein defekter Akku daran hinderte, mit Hilfe seines Ger\u00e4tes weiter laufen zu k\u00f6nnen. Der Entwickler, so sagt Straight, behauptete, sie w\u00fcrden keine Ger\u00e4te reparieren, die \u00e4lter als 5 Jahre seien. Nach einigem Hin und Her behebt der Entwickler Straights Problem, ermutigt ihn jedoch, das 100.000-Dollar-Exoskelett zu ersetzen, und betont, dass mittlerweile auch bessere Erstattungsm\u00f6glichkeiten f\u00fcr Patienten wie ihn verf\u00fcgbar seien.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c4hnliche Beispiele, in denen Medizintechnik in den letzten Jahren obsolet wurde, lassen sich nach kurzer Recherche schnell finden:<br \/>\n\u2022 Das bionische Auge von Second Sight, das 2020 fast insolvent ging und das Produkt seither eingestellt hat.<br \/>\n\u2022 Das Clusterkopfschmerz-Stimulationsimplantat von ATI, das 2019 vom Markt ging.<br \/>\n\u2022 Der R\u00fcckenmarksstimulator von Nuvectra, das 2019 Insolvenz anmeldete.<\/p>\n<p>Ob aus Profitgr\u00fcnden, wegen des Risikomanagements oder dem Ende des Lebenszyklus eines Unternehmens \u2013 was tun wir, wenn Medtech-Unternehmen aufh\u00f6ren zu existieren oder sich weigern, mit ihren urspr\u00fcnglichen Kreationen weiterzuarbeiten? Es ist f\u00fcr die betroffenen Patient:innen nicht immer leicht, ein alternatives Produkt zu finden. Sei es die langwierige Umstellung und Umgew\u00f6hnung oder die Tatsache, dass bestimmte Eigenschaften oder F\u00e4higkeiten beim alternativen Produkt nicht verf\u00fcgbar sind. Und was, wenn es tats\u00e4chlich keine Alternative gibt?<\/p>\n<p>Die Antwort k\u00f6nnte darin liegen, wie wir medizintechnische Innovationen f\u00fcr die \u00d6ffentlichkeit zug\u00e4nglich machen und dabei eine \u201eVerpflichtung zur F\u00fcrsorge\u201c in den Vordergrund stellen.<br \/>\nEin solcher Ansatz besteht darin, grundlegende Komponenten von Medizintechnikger\u00e4ten zu standardisieren. Solche Standards helfen der Industrie, Monopole zu vermeiden und die Kontinuit\u00e4t der Versorgung zu gew\u00e4hrleisten, falls eine einzelne Marke oder ein Unternehmen scheitert. Es gibt bereits viele Standards und Normen und es gilt zu vermeiden, dass dadurch noch mehr B\u00fcrokratie entsteht, die Innovationen schon im Keim erstickt. Aber die einzelnen Beispiele zeigen, dass Obsoleszenz bei Gesundheitsprodukten ein anderes Augenmerk und eine andere Herangehensweise ben\u00f6tigt als bei den meisten anderen Produktkategorien.<\/p>\n<p>Ich werde mich nun im einschl\u00e4gigen Fachhandel erkundigen, welche iPhone-Versionen noch als \u201ezukunftssicher\u201c gelten &#8211; was will man denn mit einem Handy, das nur telefoniert?
